Read This Before You Apply
This is an executive operating role, not a sales role, not a consulting/advisory role, and not a single-location management role. To be considered, you must be able to answer yes to all three:
- Did you hold the title of CEO, President, COO, GM, Operations Executive, or EOS Integrator — with that title, not an informal equivalent?
- Did you carry direct, personal accountability for P&L or full operations of a company with $500K–$50M in annual revenue (not a single retail location, not a department, not a book of business)?
- Is your career track record of leadership and execution — not sales, business development, or account management?
If you answered no to any of these, please don't apply — you won't be a fit, and we'd rather point you toward a role that is.
About the Role
HTM (How To MANAGE a Small Law Firm) is the nation's leading provider of Fractional C-Suite services for solo and small law firms — recognized on the Inc. 5000 every year since 2013. As Fractional CEO, you become the outsourced CEO, COO, or President for a portfolio of law firm owners who can't otherwise afford full-time executive leadership.
This is full-time, W-2, and you are accountable for business results — the same way you'd be as an in-house CEO. We provide the client portfolio. There is no business development, no sales, no growing your own book of business.
What You'll Do
- Build and execute business growth strategies with firm owners
- Improve profitability and cash flow
- Develop organizational structure and leadership teams
- Coach owners through strategic decisions — and stay accountable until results improve
- Help owners transition from working in the business to leading it
Required Background
- 10 years of executive leadership experience, with the title to prove it (CEO, President, GM, COO, Operations Executive, or EOS Integrator)
- Direct, personal ownership of P&L and/or operations for a company in the $500K–$50M revenue range — this must be a company-wide or division-wide scope, not a single store, branch, or territory
- Proven, measurable success improving profitability, cash flow, and business performance
- Experience building teams, systems, and organizational accountability
- Comfort managing multiple client relationships simultaneously
Nice to have, not required: prior experience as a Fractional CEO, virtual CEO, or multi-client executive advisor.
This Role Is Not a Fit If:
- Your career background is primarily sales, business development, or account management — including SaaS sales, insurance sales, or any commission-driven role. This applies even if the role carried a leadership or "VP" title.
- Your operational experience is analyst-level (business analyst, RevOps, data/BI) rather than P&L ownership. Building dashboards or KPI systems for executives is not the same as being the accountable executive.
- Your management experience is confined to a single location (e.g., one retail store), rather than full company or multi-unit accountability.
- Your background is consulting or advisory only, without hands-on operational execution and accountability for results.
- You prefer large corporate environments with layered management and existing infrastructure.
- You avoid difficult conversations or accountability conversations with owners.
- You're looking for a traditional, single-company executive role.
