Salary: $47,000 to 49,000 annual
Job Summary:
The YWCA legal team includes attorneys and DOJ Accredited Representatives. The legal assistant will provide support to the legal team including screening callers, assisting in gathering information and documents, assisting in performing legal research, assisting in completing immigration applications, creating and maintaining legal files, updating the client case management system, processing legal mail, updating clients on cases, translating documents, providing interpretation when needed, and other various tasks to support the staff of the Legal Department.
Principal Duties/Responsibilities:
Client Support
• Assist legal staff with contacting clients to keep clients informed of the status of their case
• Gather documents from clients at the legal staff’s direction
• Represent YWCA Tulsa at resource fairs to promote services and answer questions
• Assist with screening calls, reminders, referrals, and walk-ins and schedule consultations, as needed
Administration and Data Collection
• Create and maintain legal files
• Update the legal client management system in compliance with the Policies and Procedures Manual
• Provide professional interpreting and translating services as needed
• Assist Legal Office Manager in all file maintenance
• Process mail, including immigration notices, as needed
• Coordinate and track the legal team’s community events including community education, workshops, and legal outreach
QualificationsEducation/Experience
• Associate's degree or higher required
• Two years of customer service experience
• Fluency in Spanish is required
• Social service experience a plus
Physical Requirements:
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
