The Legal Assistant and Receptionist is part of a team of five administrative assistants in the Office of the General Counsel (“OGC”), reporting to the Department Administrator. The Legal Assistant and Receptionist supports the management of the OGC’s outside legal spending and provides day-to-day administrative support for the office, as well as for at least five OGC legal staff in their varied law practices. Typical duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Basic Qualifications are the minimum requirements a candidate must meet to be considered for this role.
Additional Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree preferred. Prior work experience in a law firm or with Harvard’s financial systems preferred. Candidate will be a notary public or be willing to obtain a notary public certification at the OGC’s expense. Familiarity with legal terminology or willingness to learn. Superior interpersonal skills with proven ability to successfully interact and collaborate with varied constituencies in a professional manner, exhibiting excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong attention to detail. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Work Format Details
This position has been determined by school or unit leaders that some of the duties and responsibilities can be effectively performed at a non-Harvard location. The work schedule and location will be set by the department at its discretion and based upon operational needs. When not working at a Harvard or Harvard-designated location, employees in hybrid positions must work in a Harvard registered state in compliance with the University’s Policy on Employment Outside of Massachusetts. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. Certain visa types and funding sources may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
