Correll Law Firm is a Virginia plaintiffs' firm focused on personal injury and medical malpractice. We're hiring a Trial Attorney to handle a docket of litigated cases from filing through verdict. You'll be based in our Winchester office on a hybrid schedule.
This is a courtroom job. You'll first-chair your own cases, and firm paralegals and case managers will support every file.
What you'll do:
- Manage litigated PI and med mal matters from complaint through trial or resolution
- Take and defend depositions of parties, treating physicians, and experts
- Work through medical records and bills to build damages and value cases
- Draft and argue motions, designations, and trial briefs
- Try cases to verdict in Virginia circuit courts
- Negotiate and mediate against insurers and defense counsel
- Join the weekly Monday case meeting (remote is fine)
Hybrid means working remotely most days. You'll be in person for court, depositions, mediations, client meetings when a case calls for it, and a quarterly firm meeting.
Requirements
- Active Virginia State Bar license in good standing; West Virginia admission a plus
- 5 years of civil litigation experience
- At least two jury trials as first chair
- Deposition experience, including medical providers or experts
- Comfortable reading and summarizing medical records
- Clear, persuasive writing. Our process includes a short timed writing exercise.
- Insurance defense and insurer staff-counsel experience welcome. You know how the other side values a case, and that's an advantage here.
- $140,000–$175,000 base salary, depending on trial experience
