We are a well-established litigation law firm seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to support attorneys in our insurance defense practice.
Work Schedule: Full-time, in-office position; Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Position Summary
The Legal Assistant will provide administrative and litigation support to assigned attorneys in a fast-paced insurance defense practice. This position requires a highly organized and detail-oriented professional with exceptional transcription, typing, proofreading, and document preparation skills. The ideal candidate is an experienced litigation legal assistant who can accurately produce and revise legal documents from attorney dictation while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
This position involves substantial document production and transcription work and requires the ability to maintain accuracy and efficiency in a high-volume environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, transcribe, revise, proofread, and finalize pleadings, motions, correspondence, discovery responses, subpoenas, and other legal documents from attorney dictation, ensuring accuracy, proper formatting, correct legal terminology, and grammatical consistency.
- Manage a high-volume workload while meeting deadlines and maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- File legal documents with state and federal courts through electronic filing systems.
- Maintain organized electronic and physical case files.
- Manage attorney calendars, deadlines, hearings, depositions, and meetings.
- Schedule appointments and litigation-related events.
- Submit, track, and monitor requests for medical, billing, employment, and other records.
- Communicate professionally with clients, medical providers, experts, courts, opposing counsel, and vendors.
- Assist with trial preparation, exhibit organization, and case materials.
- Maintain confidentiality of all client and firm information.
- Provide general administrative support and other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of 3-5 years of continuous Legal Assistant experience supporting attorneys in a litigation-focused law firm environment. Candidates must have worked in a similar litigation legal assistant position within the last 2 years.
- Insurance defense experience preferred; candidates with substantial litigation experience in other practice areas will also be considered.
- Exceptional typing speed, transcription accuracy, proofreading ability, and document formatting skills.
- Ability to accurately transcribe attorney dictation while maintaining productivity in a high-volume practice.
- Strong knowledge of litigation procedures, legal terminology, and court systems.
- Experience managing attorney calendars and litigation deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook.
- Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
- Attention to detail, professionalism, and reliability.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Nevada state and federal court rules.
- Experience with electronic document management systems.
- Experience obtaining and managing medical records.
Compensation
Salary Range: $57,000 to $67,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
