Kaempfer Crowell is currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join our Transactional and Legislative Affairs Practice Groups in the Reno office. In this role, you will provide high-quality administrative support to the Legislative Affairs Practice Group Leader, Transactional Attorneys, Professionals, Clients and others as needed to ensure smooth operation of transactional and legislative affairs matters. You will be expected to maintain a positive and high level of professionalism and confidentiality in all aspects of your work.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
- Prepare, proofread, edit, format, and finalize transactional and legal documents, including non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), purchase agreements, commercial leases, corporate bylaws, amendments, closing documents, letters, and correspondence, in accordance with firm standards and applicable legal formatting requirements.
- Build and maintain transaction checklists, track deliverables, coordinate signature pages and closings, and assemble physical or digital closing binders and data rooms.
- Prepare and submit entity formations, amendments, and other entity changes or filings with state agencies, including the Secretary of State.
- Gather, review, and organize financial records, corporate structures, contracts, and UCC or title searches.
- Manage attorney calendars; schedule meetings, telephone calls, and closings; and track critical dates, deadlines, milestones, follow-ups, filings, and deliverables.
- Serve as a point of contact for clients, opposing counsel, lenders, brokers, title or escrow companies, and other third parties, including scheduling and confirming meetings and closings.
- Handle attorney time entry when necessary, billing coordination, expense reports, conflict checks, document management system filing, travel arrangements, meeting logistics, and other administrative needs.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive client and firm information.
- Organize and maintain documents in both paper and electronic filing systems.
- Maintain regular and consistent attendance in the office.
- Other duties as assigned.
ABOUT YOU:
- High school diploma or equivalent required and least three years of recent successful relevant experience as a legal assistant, legal secretary, or paralegal in Nevada.
- Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong knowledge of legal terminology and procedures.
- Ability to adapt to quickly changing priorities.
- Proficiency in legal research platforms, and legal practice management software including LMS and SharePoint.
- Knowledge of laws and legal codes.
- Perform essential job functions with a high level of accuracy, completeness and legal compliance.
- Able to work independently as well as in a collaborative, team environment with employees at all levels within the Firm.
- Able to correctly interpret, explain and apply policies and procedures.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and precisely.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Fully understand and follow verbal and written directions and instructions.
- Strong problem-solving skills, high attention to detail and able to effectively work in a fast-paced environment.
- Provide effective client service and public relations.
- Working knowledge of MS Office applications: Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Teams, SharePoint and Copilot.
- Experience using legal systems and software platforms.
- Able to work in office on Monday – Friday from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.
- Must be a bonded Nevada notary with a current and valid appointment. Willing to provide notary bond information to the Firm upon hire.

- Work is typically performed in an office environment while sitting at a computer screen for extended periods.
- Requires repetitive physical and mental activities.
- While performing the duties of this job, you may be occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts when working with office machines.
- You will be required to frequently stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms when working with documents, files, computers, or office machines.
- This position requires working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions. Therefore, exposure to sounds and noise levels may be distracting or uncomfortable.
