Howard & Howard Attorneys PLLC is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Legal Assistant with a minimum of three years of experience in corporate transactions and franchise law to join our Chicago office. This position supports attorneys in managing a dynamic workflow and delivering exceptional administrative services to our business clients. The ideal candidate will excel in a fast-paced environment, demonstrate a high level of professionalism, and possess strong technical and organizational skills.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage complex and high-volume calendaring for attorneys and clients
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients; screen calls and maintain strong client relationships
- Draft and prepare confidential correspondence, reports, and legal documents
- Create and manage spreadsheets using formulas and pivot tables
- Handle attorney time entry and billing processes
- Maintain client files in both physical and digital formats (NetDocs)
- Provide support during corporate closings and franchise transactions
- Uphold confidentiality of all firm and client matters
- Assist with front desk/reception duties on an as-needed basis
- Perform other administrative tasks as assigned
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Specialized Legal Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in corporate transactions
- Familiarity with closing processes, entity formation, and corporate governance documentation
Technical Proficiency:
- Advanced Microsoft 365 skills, especially:
- Excel: formulas, pivot tables
- PowerPoint: creating professional presentations
- Outlook & Word: managing calendars, formatting legal documents
- Experience with document management systems
Administrative & Organizational Skills:
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a deadline-driven environment.
- Experience with billing and time entry systems
Communication & Client Service:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Professional demeanor with strong interpersonal skills for client interaction.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.

Education:
